Today, I’m doing the Baking Book Tag! I found this on V’s blog, TheSassyLibraryFox, and thought it looked super cool! I hope V doesn’t mind me having pinched this, I just love baking and books!
Blueberry Muffins – A book with a perfect beginning
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I just love its opening line!
Pumpkin Pie – A perfect holiday book
I read this initially as like going on holiday holiday but I think it’s referring to the Christmas period. The only Christmassy or wintery book I can think of really that I’ve read is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Cinnamon Rolls – A smol character who must be protected
I have to be honest, the wording of this question made me cringe a bit. I guess I felt protective towards Weena from The Time Machine, so I’ll go with her.
Lemon Meringue Pie – A book with summer vibes
Outline by Rachel Cusk fits this one well! The setting for most of the book is Greece, so naturally, it’s all sunny and summery!
Funfetti Cake – A book that makes you feel like a kid
I can’t say I’ve read any books like that lately, and I wouldn’t be drawn to them.
Chocolate Chip Cookies – An amazing classic
Could say Pride and Prejudice again, but I won’t. Instead, I’ll go for a more modern classic, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies – A book that deserves more love
Exciting Times by Naoise Dolan. I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions on it, but I really enjoyed it.
Angel Food Cake – A book that’s pure air and fluff
I don’t really read fluffy books to be honest, so I can’t think of any!
Carrot Cake – A book with a good message
A lot of options here, but I’m going to go with Queenie for its depiction of Black British womanhood, and also Queenie’s eventual happiness in being on her own.
Macarons – A book that was intimidating
Ulysses by James Joyce. It’s huge!
Egg Tarts – An amazing diverse book
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. The protagonists are women of colour, and there’s also LGBT rep.
Banana Bread – A book with a lot of hype
Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell got a lot of hype last year!
I’m not tagging anyone in particular to participate in this, as usual, it’s an open call, and if you want to give it a go, then please do!
Haha! Don’t worry! I’m perfectly fine with you going for the tag! I love baking and books too so the tag was super fun for me as well! =) Loved to read your answers for the prompts!
