Ultimate Book Tag

I found this tag on Raji’s blog, JourneyIntoFantasy, and I thought it looked like a good one to have a go at! Thank you Raji, and hope you enjoy my answers!

Do you get sick while reading in the car?

I used to, but I haven’t tried it for ages as I don’t do long car journeys anymore, so I don’t know!

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

James Joyce, because it just is totally unique!

Harry Potter or Twilight? Give 3 reasons why.

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what’s in it (besides books)?

I mean, as a woman I carry a handbag everywhere if that’s what is meant? That has my purse, makeup bag, keys etc in. I also put a book and a water bottle in there if I’m going out for the day.

Do you smell your books?

Books with or without illustrations?

What book did you love while reading, but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

Probably Harry Potter to be honest. Even before all the controversy around JKR, I was already fully over her because I realised… her writing isn’t actually very good!

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood?

I had a book series that I thought was the greatest thing ever, so I tried to make both my parents read every single book to me, because if either of them missed a book I thought it was unfair that they were missing out.

What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

One of the Faber 90 short stories! I’m not sure which one, but some are only about 40 pages.

What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann.

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself being an author in the future?

I do occasionally, and I’d love to be published, but at the minute I don’t put nearly enough time or effort into it.

When did you get into reading?

Very young, I can’t ever remember not being into reading.

What is your favourite classic book?

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!

What was your best subject in school?

Maths, but English was my favourite.

If you were given a book as a present that you read before and hated, what would you do?

Thank them, and then regift it or donate it to a charity shop.

What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

Literally any MG/YA fantasy or dystopia series?

What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while writing?

Use too many exclamation marks!

What is your favourite word?

Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb?

Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Probably vampires, but I’m not into fantasy.

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Again, not into fantasy. But I guess shapeshifters because I enjoy some scifi TV with them in.

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Don’t care for either at all to be honest.

Zombies or Vampires? Why?

I guess it depends, because in games I’d say zombies, but in books I’d say vampires because of Dracula.

Love Triangles or Forbidden Love?

Ugh… I hate romance tropes. If I had to pick I’d say the latter.

Full-on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes?

Latter, I’m not into romance! I don’t mind it as like a background thing or side plot, but not as the main focus.

That’s all folks!

I won’t be tagging anyone today, but feel free to participate and link back to me if you enjoyed these questions!
