Today I’m doing a tag I found on Megan’s blog, MegansBookStacks, the Are You a Book Snob tag! I think I am a little bit of a book snob, but hopefully not too much of a book snob. And I’m snobby in that I’m quite particular about my own likes and habits, but wouldn’t judge someone else for doing differently! But for me, it has to be a certain way. So we’ll see what my answers are like. I’m really excited to get into this one!
FORMAT SNOB: You can only choose one format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?
Physical 100%! Audiobooks aren’t my thing, I really struggle to find time to listen to them. And for me, I prefer a book in my hands over an ereader. Though I do also appreciate the convenience of my Kindle!
ADAPTATION SNOB: Do you always read the book before watching the film/TV show?
Not always, but almost always. I certainly prefer to read the book first.
SHIP SNOB: Would you date or marry a non-reader?
Maybe, if we had other things in common! I don’t expect a potential partner to enjoy all of my hobbies, but certainly I’d want them to share some of my hobbies so we had things to discuss and engage with together. So if they were a non-gamer but shared my other hobbies, that would be fine! However, as reading is my biggest hobby, I would prefer to be with a reader so we can chat books together.
GENRE SNOB: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?
Romance for sure! I can deal with romance as a side plot, but if it’s the main ~thing~ I get really turned off the book. I find romance way too predictable.
UBER GENRE SNOB: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?
Tougher than the last one! I think I’ll go for contemporary, because it contains a lot of subgenres. I’ll deeply miss historical fiction though!
COMMUNITY SNOB: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?
Honestly I feel like the majority of the bookish community dismisses litfic/classical as snobby, and in that sense, is snobby towards it. Most of the bookish community I follow are YA readers, and I see a lot of talk about people being snobby towards YA readers, but I don’t actually see the snobbery! I feel like that comes more from outside the bookish community.
SNOBBERY RECIPIENT: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?
Not as far as I know! Possibly behind my back though, who knows!
Such a cool tag!

This is a really fun tag! I’m actually dating a non-reader right now, what’s important to me is that he’s supportive of my hobby – and we share other interests!

Aha I love this tag. I think I could just what genre I’d stick with, but not sure I could chose what to get rid of. Loved this.

I had so much fun reading this! Contemporary was a good one, had to rack my brain for that one!

[…] It’s a new month, and I really want to try and get better about doing these book tags. I started the year off really well, but then I just stopped! I have no idea why, and I’m sorry. I will try to do better. The first book tag I want to do this month is, Are You a Book Snob? I have always thought that I am not a book snob. I don’t judge people by the books they read or if they even read. But I shall see after answering these few questions. I found this book tag over at Eleanor Sophie Writes. […]

I enjoyed reading your answers; I had trouble picking a genre to keep as well.
I hope you don’t mind, but I borrowed this tag for my blog. Feel free to check out my answers. https://readbakecreate.com/?p=391
