The Great Gatsby | 24 | 2020 Countdown

Welcome to Day 1 of my 2020 Book Spotlight Countdown! For more information about this series, please read my introductory post here. Today, I’m celebrating The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald!

24th of 2020

The Great Gatsby is the epitome of glitz and glamour. Our narrator, however, is pretty much the opposite of glitz and glamour when first we meet him. Often lauded as a prime example of the unreliable narrator, Nick Carrarway introduces the reader to Jay Gatsby, the life and soul of the 1920s party. As Nick is drawn more and more into Gatsby’s social circle, the glitz and glamour facade is lifted somewhat to reveal questionable morals, betrayal, and debauchery. This novella is incredibly well known for all the best reasons.

If you enjoy dark academia, this might be the classic for you.
