Stay At Home Book Tag!

So today I’m doing another tag! I’ve been tagged in quite a few of things like this recently, so if anyone has tagged me then know I will get round to it, but I’m doing them in the order I was tagged, so it might take a little while. Without further ado, let’s get on with the Stay at Home Book Tag!

I was tagged by Sofia @ AelinsKingdom. Thank you!

Prompts are:

Laying In Bed: A Book You Read In A Day

I read this a while ago, so it wasn’t during the lockdown, but I picked Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf! It’s quite a small book, and I read it in one sitting, in a couple of hours.

Snacking: A Guilty Pleasure Read

I really don’t think I have an answer for this! I don’t think anything I read I would class as a guilty pleasure. The only thing I could maybe say are the Faber 90 short stories, solely because they’re all published individually, so I count each one as a completed book on GoodReads which I’m sure some people would see as cheating. Seeing as I also read a lot of very long, difficult books, I think it balances out. And, to be honest, I don’t care if other people think I’m cheating at my reading challenge! It’s my reading challenge after all! I set my target for 70 books knowing that some of them are going to be shorter reads, and that’s okay.

Netflix: A Series You Want To Start

I don’t often read series, so this was a bit of a tricky one! I picked one off my shelf that is actually the second in a series — I don’t have the first. The book I picked is Winter by Ali Smith, and the series is the Seasonal Quartet.

Deep Clean: A Book That’s Been On Your TBR Forever

There are a lot that I could’ve picked for this! I’m terrible at buying and reading new books and letting some slip to the bottom of my priority list. For the purposes of this tag, however, I’ve picked Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. Super excited to eventually read this gothic classic!

Animal Crossing: A Book You Bought Because Of The Hype

I don’t often buy books because of the hype, but hype can certainly speed up my buying and reading process! One that I definitely prioritised buying because of the hype was Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell!

Productivity: A Book You Learned From Or Had An Impact On You

Everyone is probably sick of hearing me talk about this book, but I’m going to go with Ulysses by James Joyce. I think it made me learn a lot about my reading style, and really improved my reading ability.

FaceTime: A Book You Were Gifted

I’ve been gifted a lot of books! I get books every birthday and Christmas from family and friends, so there were a lot I could have chosen for this one. I picked On Beauty by Zadie Smith because it’s a gorgeous book bought for my by a university friend, and she wrote a birthday message inside, so it’s pretty special to me!

Self Care: One Thing You’ve Done Recently To Look After Yourself

Does buy more books count for this? Probably! Because boy have I bought more books recently. I was trying to not buy any more books until I’ve got through more of my TBR, and I was doing so well! And then lockdown happened, and I wanted to read my way through the Women’s Prize shortlist and, well, book deliveries happened.

Bonus: An Upcoming Release You’re Looking Forward To

I’ll be honest, I don’t really keep track of upcoming releases! There are so many backlist books I want to read that looking to books that are going to be published is kinda dangerous. I’m going to go for one that I think is still upcoming, which is A Beautifully Foolish Endeavour by Hank Green, because I read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing a while ago.

  1. Loved reading your answers! 🙂 And I have to agree nothing is better than buying books if you want to do something for yourself. Books are always a great thing. I never managed to stick to my book buying bans. I always found another reason why I had to buy a new book, lol

    • Thank you! ☺️ I’ve never tried to ban myself for that very reason 😂 I have been more thoughtful about the books I buy/ask for recently though which has helped a lot
